In our own backyard!

Don't mind Emerson! She does not like to "smile" for pictures...

Steve and I have talked about getting a playset for the last couple of years now.  He never really wanted one....its that landscaper in him!  He didnt want it to junk up the yard or look like an eye sore.  I was shopping at Costco earlier this year and spotted this beauty!  I showed it to Steve and he was sold!  Two months later, lots of work by Steve, my dad, Randy and Jimmy, it is now up and running. Wyatt is content sitting in the baby swing and Emmy is all over the slide, club house and of course the swing!  I think we went out to the playset three times already today!  What a great "birthday" gift for the kids!

Happy Birthday to Emerson

We had Emerson's party here at our house.  It was a great day with beautiful 70 degree weather.  With the great weather the kids were able to play outside on the play set and we had cake and presents on our deck.  Her birthday has been hit or miss with weather. She really got that it was her birthday this year.  She picked out her Strawberry Shortcake cake on her own, loved having us all sing happy birthday to her, she blew her own candles out and ripped open all of her presents!  She was spoiled by our friends and family and could not have enjoyed her party anymore.  We had a great group of kids this year and that really made the party for her. As you can see by the end of the day she tuckered out right in Nana's arms.

I really cant believe my baby girls is now 3 years old.  It has hard to believe that time as gone that fast, yet it feels like she has been apart of our family for forever.  She is such a great kid with a fiery little personality.  She was born on 4/8/08 as a little pudge at 8lbs 12oz and now she is a skinny minny.  I love her so, so, so much and am so lucky that I get to spend all of my days with her.  She definitely has changed both Steve and I for the better.

Some things about Emerson Kate at 3 years old:

~She has a great vocabulary, I am shocked at what she knows!
~Cant count to 20....not always in order, but that is the cute part!
~Likes to sing her ABC's
~Has a dance for everything
~Likes to make silly and scary faces

~She is a girly girl all the way
~Loves Dora, princesses, Nick Jr., purses, silly bands, lip gloss, hair bows, dresses, shoes, hats and Wyatt!
~ Emmy is never without a hair bow, purse, or her shopping cart full of trinkets
~Not the best eater, she is a grazer that is for sure
~Loves breakfast....."I want cereal (cheerios mixed with shredded wheat...thanks Steve!), milk and toast"
~buttered noodles is her favorite meal
~Thinks she is a ballerina and has the entire outfit to prove it!
~She is a demanding little thing and she will easily tell me "maybe not" whenever she desires
~Loves the outdoors....anything outside, really!  The new outdoor play set has won her heart.
~Loves juice and milk

~Goes to preschool come August
~Is growing up way too fast!!!!

We love you more than the world Emerson!  You taught us how to truly love unconditionally and what parenting is all about.  We could not have asked for a better daughter!

Zoo on her birthday....

My mom was on spring break on April 8th.....one of the BEST days of the year!  Yep, thats Emmy's birthday!  So we headed down to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for the day and then to Nana and Papa's for dinner and cake.  What a fun day for us all....

Castlewood Canyon

We have been having some great spring weather here in Colorado!  We packed up the kids and met our friends Mike, Karin and Merek at Castlewood Canyon a couple of weeks ago.  Emerson and Merek are just days apart and they had a lot of fun hiking...and playing.  This was Emerson's first hike that she walked on her own as Wyatt needed the backpack.  She did.....okay!  She is my girl and all so she complained, was tired, hot and would just plop down on the trail and pout!  In her defense we did hike for about 2 hours and 2 miles.  Yes, we went slow....what do you expect for two almost 3 year olds!  Regardless, it was a blast and we hope to go back there much more this spring and summer.  We ended the hike with a great lunch and a nice cold beer.....perfection!

Grand Lake

Steve and I were able to head to the mountains for a weekend in March with some friends in Grand Lake for a little birthday celebration.  It was a blast!  From skiing, to scavenger hunts, to a hot tub DAY!  It was a perfect getaway!
